Getting started
What does ProTruckSolutions do exactly?▾
We act as your back office. Our dispatchers find loads that match your equipment and lanes, negotiate rates with brokers, plan your routes, and handle paperwork like rate confirmations and invoicing. You keep driving, we keep the phone and inbox handled.
Do I lose my own authority if I work with you?▾
No. You keep operating under your own MC number the whole time. We are a service you hire, not a carrier you work for.
Can you dispatch me if I don't have my own MC number?▾
No. We only dispatch carriers with their own active MC number. If your authority is on the way, reach out now and we'll be ready to book your first load the day it goes active.
What documents do I need to get started?▾
You will need:
- Active MC authority
- Certificate of insurance showing your liability and cargo coverage
- W-9 form
- Voided check or bank letter, which brokers ask for in their setup packets so they can pay you directly
- Signed dispatch agreement
How new can my authority be for you to work with me?▾
We work with carriers from day one of active authority. There is no minimum time in business requirement on our end.
How fast will I hear back?▾
Within one business day, usually the same day.
What information should I have ready before reaching out?▾
Your equipment type, MC number if you have one, and a general sense of your preferred operating area helps speed things up.
Fees, payment and contracts
What's your dispatch fee for owner-operators?▾
We charge a flat 6% of your weekly gross for dry van, reefer, flatbed and power only, and 8% for box truck and hotshot. Our dispatch fees guide shows how that compares across the industry.
Is there a free trial?▾
Yes. No dispatch fee on any load picked up during your first 3 days of dispatch with us. No card and no commitment. After that, it's the flat 6% or 8% of your weekly gross.
How do I pay your fee?▾
Every Monday we send one invoice listing last week's loads and our fee. You pay within 3 business days by ACH, Zelle or a secure payment link, only after you've been paid. The broker pays you, or your factoring company, directly.
Can I cancel if it is not a good fit?▾
Yes. You can stop working with us with one week's notice. There is no long-term contract locking you in, and our Dispatch Agreement page shows exactly what you sign.
Do you offer factoring or quick pay?▾
Yes, through trusted factoring partners. We can connect you with one, or you can keep using your own.
Can I use my own factoring company?▾
Yes, you're free to use any factoring company you prefer alongside our dispatch service.
Is it normal for a dispatcher to ask for payment before finding me a load?▾
No. This is one of the clearest red flags. Legitimate dispatchers bill after loads they booked are delivered, never before.
Equipment and freight
Do I need a CDL to use a box truck dispatch service?▾
No. Non-CDL box trucks under 26,001 pounds GVWR are welcome, unless you haul placarded hazmat. CDL box trucks are also supported.
Do I need a CDL for hotshot trucking?▾
It depends on weight ratings, not trailer length. You need a Class A CDL when your truck and trailer's combined rating (GCWR) is 26,001 lbs or more and the trailer alone is rated over 10,000 lbs. Most one-ton pickups with a gooseneck cross both lines.
Do you work with carriers nationwide?▾
Yes. Your truck can be based anywhere in the lower 48, and we book loads across all of those states. We don't dispatch in Alaska or Hawaii.
Do you book hazmat loads?▾
Not today. We don't book placarded hazmat freight. Every other load we book is non-hazmat broker freight across the lower 48.
Working with a dispatcher day to day
Is a truck dispatcher the same as a freight broker?▾
No. A broker connects shippers with carriers and works on behalf of the shipper. A dispatcher works on your behalf as the carrier, finding and booking loads for you under your own authority.
Do you book loads directly with shippers?▾
No. We work only with freight brokers, on your behalf and under your own MC. We don't arrange freight for shippers.
Do I need a dispatcher near me?▾
No. We dispatch remotely by phone, text and email across the lower 48, so your dispatcher's location doesn't matter. What matters is that they know your lanes and pick up when you call.
Do you respond on weekends?▾
Yes. Our dispatch team works in shifts around the clock, weekends included, so if something goes wrong on a load at 2 AM, someone picks up. New carrier setup and paperwork run during office hours, 8 AM to 6 PM Eastern, Monday to Friday.
Can I text instead of calling or emailing?▾
Yes. You can text your dispatcher as well as call or email. Many drivers text load updates and paperwork photos from the road.
What if I have a complaint about a load or broker?▾
Tell your dispatcher right away. We follow up with the broker on late payments and help you with disputes.
